Olympic Gymnast Adam Cogat’s fashion journey

GYM

Adam Cogat, Olympic Gymnast and fashion enthousiast.

1. How has your experience as an Olympic gymnast influenced your personal sense of style and fashion, both within and outside of the sports arena?

As an Olympic gymnast, my experience has influenced my sense of style. I learned to appreciate the importance of functional clothing to perform at my best. It helped me understand the importance of having the right clothes for my sport.

That feeling of feeling good about yourself and being yourself is very important to me. So I wanted to combine my clothing style with my gymnastics, which is rather original. My atypical morphology, especially my shoulders, allows me to break traditional gymnastics codes by adapting them to my figure. This makes me a unique and personal gymnast.

My aim is to respect the traditional dress code of my sport, while adding my own personal touch. This allows me to stand out and express my creativity on the mat. It's the same for my outfits outside training. I like to add my personal touch with clothes that express my everyday creativity and way of being.

2. In recent years, we've seen a growing intersection between fashion and sportswear. How do you believe this trend is impacting the way athletes express themselves and connect with their audiences?

The trend towards the intersection of fashion and sportswear has enabled athletes to express themselves more and communicate with their audiences in creative ways. Athletes can show their personality through their clothing choices, mixing sporty pieces with fashion elements. This creates a stronger connection between athletes and their public, as it shows their unique style and passion for the sport.

3. Gymnastics demands both precision and flexibility. How do you translate these attributes from your sport into your fashion choices, and do you find any parallels between the two in terms of pushing boundaries and embracing creativity?

In gymnastics, precision and flexibility are essential, as they are in fashion. I look for clothes that combine comfort and style, while reflecting my personality. As in gymnastics, I push the boundaries of fashion by experimenting with new combinations and embracing my creativity. Both fields allow me to express myself and show my passion for fashion.
