Nike Abayas Sell Out in London

In a recent collaboration, Nike has joined forces with British-Muslim fashion designer Saeedah Haque to create a capsule collection of modest streetwear, branded as 'Nike by You'. This collection includes Nike-branded abayas, niqabs, and hijabs, blending modern streetwear aesthetics with traditional modest-wear. “This is a dream come true and something our community has needed for so long. I hope this opens the door for more representation in the space of sport,” Haque expressed.

Nike's foray into modest fashion began in 2017 with the introduction of the groundbreaking Nike Pro Hijab, a performance-oriented hijab designed for athletes. It was inspired by Saudi Arabian athlete Sarah Attar's historic appearance at the 2012 Olympics, highlighting the need for modest athletic wear. The Nike Pro Hijab was designed with a single layer of opaque, stretchy material for comfort during sports and high-performance activities.

This collaboration with Saeedah Haque marks a significant step forward in Nike's commitment to inclusivity and innovation in fashion. Currently, fashion enthusiasts can find these exclusive Nike abayas at the Nike Town store in London, and exciting plans for a Paris launch are on the horizon. This strategic move comes in response to the recent abaya ban in French schools, underscoring the collection's potential to effect change and expand the boundaries of modest sportswear on a global scale.
